On a beautiful afternoon filled with sunshine, the AKS 1st XI girls team faced off against Kings Macclesfield in
their final match of the season, culminating in an exciting 2-2 draw. The day was not only a celebration of
hockey but also a poignant farewell to our Year 13 leavers.
The match kicked off with both teams displaying impressive skill and determination, creating a thrilling
atmosphere for the spectators. Kings Macclesfield struck first, taking an early lead and putting pressure on the
AKS side. However, the home team responded brilliantly, with Kirtika S finding the back of the net to
level the score.
Building momentum, AKS showcased their attacking prowess, and it was Eve C who then made a
significant impact, executing a well-placed reverse shot to find the net following an outstanding run from
Amelia H. This goal put AKS ahead 2-1, igniting enthusiasm among the players and supporters alike.
Kings Macclesfield, undeterred, fought back to equalize once more, bringing the score to 2-2 at half time.
Both teams continued to battle fiercely, creating numerous chances and demonstrating quality hockey that
kept everyone on the edge of their seats.
As the match drew to a close, the hard work and dedication of both sides were evident, making it a brilliant
spectacle for all who attended. However, the day was tinged with sadness as we bid farewell to our remarkable
Year 13 leavers: Jess A, Danni H, Carly W, Sophie F, Anya K and Katie L. Their contributions to AKS hockey over
the past seven years have been invaluable, and they will be greatly missed.
In conclusion, the match against Kings Macclesfield was a fitting end to the season—filled with excitement,
teamwork, and heartfelt goodbyes. Thank you to all the players and supporters for making this season
memorable!
