Half Term Sports Round-Up

Girls' Hockey: County U13A and B Team Cup Winners A huge congratulations to our U13A and B hockey teams who were victorious in the County Cup, hosted at Kirkham Grammar School. Both teams put in excellent performances, with the A team advancing to the National Quarter Finals, where they faced Dame Allans. Although they narrowly lost in a tight contest, it was a fantastic achievement to reach that stage.

Another highlight of the half term was the ‘clean sweep’ against Merchant Taylors. This thrilling block included outstanding performances and memorable victories across all age groups. A big well done to everyone involved, as each team continues to build on their successes.

Netball fixtures have continued alongside hockey fixtures and continue to be strong, with several positive results against Scarisbrick Hall, with more exciting fixtures are on the horizon after the half-term break. We look forward to seeing each age group in action.

Girls' Cricket: Lancashire Cup Success The U13 and U15 girls’ cricket teams have also had a remarkable season, both progressing through the Lancashire Cup and qualifying for the North Finals. Their hard work and dedication have paid off, and we wish them the best of luck as they prepare for the upcoming finals. It’s inspiring to see such strong performances from our cricket teams!

Boys' Football: Strong Start and Outstanding Performances The boys' football teams have had a fantastically positive start to the season, with numerous outstanding performances and superb victories across all age groups. Every weekend has seen block fixtures against local footballing schools, with the teams competing strongly throughout. A major highlight was the ‘clean sweep’ against Westholme, where all our U12-15 teams triumphed. The 1st XI has had a very positive half-term, only losing one fixture in a close affair against Lancaster Grammar School. The team has had many memorable victories, including wins against Bury Grammar and QEGS Blackburn. Additionally, the U15 team must be commended for their superb cup run, in which they narrowly lost to St. Bede’s, Manchester, on penalties in the quarter-finals of the ISFA Trophy.

Boys' Rugby: Lancashire Cup Final Victory The boys’ rugby teams have continued to compete in a number of fixtures alongside football, but it was the 1st XV who had the standout moment of the term. In a historic achievement, the squad won the Lancashire Cup Final under lights at Fylde RFC. With a record crowd and an electric atmosphere, they triumphed 20-15 in an outstanding performance of schoolboy rugby. Congratulations to everyone involved in this memorable victory – a fantastic way to mark a historic achievement for the school! We are delighted to share below the photo gallery, featuring shots from our talented Year 7 Photography Club students!

Boys' Cricket: Preseason Success It has also been great to see the start of the boys' cricket preseason, with a positive turnout at the sessions. The attendance has been impressive, and the boys are already preparing for the summer term. These sessions will continue after the half-term break to ensure the teams are ready for the upcoming cricket season.

Looking Ahead The upcoming term is filled with more exciting fixtures, and we can’t wait to see how our athletes continue to perform. Best of luck to all teams as they progress through their sporting journeys!
