Earlier this week, Ms Robinson (Prep School MFL and EAL Co-ordinator) travelled to the Houses of Parliament to receive the International School Award. At a reception hosted by James Asser MP, 54 schools from across the UK gathered together to celebrate their achievements in promoting internationalism in education. This award recognises our school's efforts to foster an international ethos as well as embedding internationalism within the curriculum.
Last year, our prep school children had meetings with children in France, Argentina and Colombia on a wide range of topics including playground games, natural disasters, and Olympic Games venues. Our nursery children read stories, sang and played 'Simon Says' with their counterparts in South Africa and our KS2 children learnt a little about what it means to be a refugee. Our EAL children and some of our staff demonstrated their amazing linguistic abilities in Spanish, Italian, Mongolian, Arabic, German, Latvian and other languages, clearly showing us why it is important to learn another language.
