AKS Scholars Put Critical Thinking to the Test in Exciting Escape Room Challenge

In a world where technology is evolving at an unprecedented pace, the ability to think critically, problem-solve and collaborate effectively has never been more important. At AKS, we pride ourselves on equipping our students with these essential skills, preparing them for the future job market and beyond. This commitment was brought to life in an escape room challenge, led by Assistant Head (Teaching and Learning) Dr. Jessop

Dr. Jessop introduced the session by exploring the rapid advancements in technology, highlighting how artificial intelligence and digital innovation continue to shape the world around us. He emphasized the importance of digital literacy, teamwork, communication, time management, empathy and cultural awareness - skills that will be crucial for students in their academic and professional journeys. However, at the heart of the challenge lay two key competencies: critical thinking and problem-solving.

Students were divided into teams and sent off to their respective escape rooms, each accompanied by a Sixth Form student acting as the escape room guardian. The challenge? Solve a series of complex puzzles, decipher hidden clues, and collaborate effectively to earn their way to freedom. With each successful solution, teams received their next clue, edging them closer to victory.

Designed with age-appropriate challenges, the escape room pushed students to think logically, work under pressure and adapt to evolving scenarios - just as they will need to in the ever-changing world of work. The experience was not just a test of intellect but a testament to the resilience, teamwork and ingenuity of AKS scholars.

As Dr. Jessop posed the ultimate question - Can you think your way to freedom? - our students embraced the challenge, demonstrating the critical thinking and teamwork that define AKS.
