On Thursday, AKS was proud to host the world-renowned Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) in what proved to be an exciting and challenging fixture for our First XI cricket team.
The day began with a strong performance in the field by AKS. Tight bowling and sharp fielding made scoring difficult for the MCC early on, allowing our team to stay competitive through the opening stages. Despite the disciplined start, MCC’s depth and skill shone through as they posted an impressive total of 4/211.
In response, AKS began steadily with the bat and looked well-placed to push forward. However, the loss of key wickets during the middle overs reduced momentum, making it difficult to maintain the required run rate. The innings closed at 9/136, with MCC securing a well-earned victory.
A particularly special moment in the day was the return of AKS alumnus Andrew Pilkington, who officiated the match as one of the umpires. It was a pleasure to welcome him back to school, highlighting the strong connections our alumni continue to have with the AKS community.
Though the result didn’t fall in our favour, the match was a fantastic experience for our players—one filled with learning, pride, and a deep appreciation for the spirit of the game.
