On Saturday 6 AKS teams faced Merchant Taylors from crosby and all came away with victories.
AKS U15’s led from the front and put on a commanding performance, securing an emphatic 8-0 win in a one-sided contest thanks to 5 goals from Anna V and a hat-trick from Amelie C . From the first whistle, AKS dictated play, applying relentless pressure and showcasing excellent teamwork.
Two opening goal came early in the first 5minutes, setting the tone for the match. AKS were clinical in front of goal, converting chances with precision, while the midfield controlled possession and dictated the tempo. Defensively, we were rock-solid, denying the opposition any real opportunities and ensuring a well-deserved clean sheet.
The U14’s took a big squad of 17 players and all enjoyed a successful run out against Merchant Taylors. We opened the scoring early on when Connie F was on hand to collect a great through ball and slot it past the keeper to make it 1 – 0. Camilla W was a constant threat up front but some good goalkeeping saw her efforts saved and keep the score to just one. We did go further ahead, however, when Emily F scored from a good strike at a corner and Camilla finally got on the scoresheet before the break with a superb shot into the corner which gave the keeper no chance and we went into the break 3 – 0 ahead. The second half went the way of the first with us dominating possession and playing some great passing hockey and the win was secured when Camiila found the net again to make the final score 4 – 0. In her first match back Isla C was named as Player of the Match.
U13A team , fresh from their exploits in the Cup match, proved much too strong for their opposition and put on another impressive performance, showcasing dominance throughout the game. They played with determination and enthusiasm, leaving little for the defence to do thanks to excellent teamwork in attack. We also utilised the game to allow for each player to play out of their favored position in order to challenge themselves within different roles. A convincing victory—well done, everyone!
U13B team also produced a great team performance to win7- 0 in their match against Merchant Taylors. Excellent team passing and strong tackling meant that the opposition struggled to produce many attacking opportunities. Player of the Match was Rosie B
The closest match of the morning was the U12A match which saw AKS face a strong mix of Year 7 and 8 players from Merchant Taylor's but AKS battled well and came away with the 2-1 win. As the match began the U12's were tentative in their approach to some of the players and allowed them space to attack but some good tackles to kept them at bay. It was however Merchants Taylors who took the lead with an excellent drag flick at the short corner. AKS stepped up to the pressure and a determined attack converted into a goal just before half time. AKS were much more confident in their play during the second half and were able to convert the ball on the left post to seal the victory.
The U12B team started their first match back in style with a 4-0 victory over Merchant Taylor’s. Even with new players joining the squad for today the team quickly found their rhythm, displaying some great passing and teamwork throughout. Strong tackles and solid defending ensured the opposition had no clear chances, while the attacking play created multiple opportunities, leading to four goals. It was a good performance, showcasing both individual skill and great team spirit. Player of the match was Lottie T. A great morning of hockey, well done, team!
